Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, and in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures, provides patient care and treatment consistent with patient treatment plan.  Responsible for nursing activities in a patient or health care unit, utilizes professional training and expertise in the field of nursing.  Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.  Makes frequent rounds to review status and safety of patients.  Provides work related guidance, instruction and explanation to paraprofessional nursing and other direct care staff.  Participates in admission procedures when assigned as a screening nurse.  Inventories, orders and maintains security of medications. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing.  Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.  This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.  

Employment Conditions

 

Requires ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.

Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.

 

Education Degree

 

Graduation from an approved nursing program education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing.
