The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is tasked with the oversight of communities within Illinois to achieve and maintain optimal health and safety. Position Overview
Subject to administrative direction of the Deputy Director, performs a full range of highly responsible, confidential, administrative functions in the overall management of the Office of Information Technology. Monitors expenditures and resource allocations as well as personnel matters within the office. Serves as liaison with various office and department staff on matters relating to the responsibility of the Deputy Director. Maintains status information on all pending projects in the Office.
Job Responsibilities
- Coordinates personnel within the Office of Information Technology.
- Serves as a liaison with other Deputy Director’s as well as Division Chiefs in the Department and vendors to facilitate the exchange of project information and to improve communications among all interested parties.
- Monitors expenditures and resource allocations for the Office of Information Technology.
- Handles confidential correspondence, reports, and telephone calls relating to various programs and personnel.
- Reviews various staff training requests for consistency with department training policies and availability of funds.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
- Requires two years of professional experience in a public or private organization, preferably working with personnel policies and procedures and budget preparation.
- Must possess knowledge of and experience with personal computers and software applications including Word Perfect, spreadsheet programs (e.g. Microsoft Excel), and database programs (e.g. Microsoft Access).
