Position Overview
Under direct supervision and in conjunction with higher level bank examiners in conducting select, less complex portions of the information systems and related technology examination duties in community banks, savings institutions, data processing service providers and trust companies. Gathers information to analyze and evaluate information technology processing controls, policies, and procedures. Completes comprehensive examination report pages and supporting work papers. Conducts meetings with bank management and the board of directors. Travels extensively to assigned facilities for examinations.

Essential Functions
- Conducts select, less complex portions of the information systems and related technology examination duties in state banks, state savings institutions, corporate fiduciaries, and service providers.
- In conjunction with other examiners, gathers and reviews information to determine if information technology functions and operations are performed in compliance with the guidelines provided in the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) Information Technology Examination Handbooks.
- Reviews and analyzes the institution’s business continuity plan to recover bank and data processing operations in the event of a disaster situation that affects the institution or the region where the institution is located.
- Prepares, in whole or in part comprehensive examination report pages and supporting work papers to document the examination process and report conclusions to superior and institution management regarding the adequacy and extent of compliance with policies, procedures, and internal controls, the extent of adherence to safe and sound practices, and the extent of compliance with Illinois banking laws and federal bank regulations.
- Meets with management personnel and/or boards of directors of examined entities to discuss findings of the examination and develop and recommend corrective action for areas containing weaknesses and deficiencies which are subject to criticism in the report of examination. Travels to conduct these duties.
- Periodically attend and successfully complete schools, conferences, team meetings, and workshops conducted by or for the Division of Banking. Travels to conduct these duties.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college with courses in accounting, corporate finance, banking and monetary theory.
- Requires successful completion of the Financial Institutions Examiner Trainee program.

Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least four years of experience working in a bank or financial institution.
- Prefers at least four years of experience working in information technology, computer science, or similar field.
- Prefers at least three years of auditing experience.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to pass an agency conducted background check.
- Requires the ability to travel frequently and extensively, both in and out of state.
- Requires the possession of a valid, appropriate drivers license, and access to a vehicle for travel.
