POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for an individual with a passion for community engagement and experience organizing outreach and recruitment events and activities to join the CMS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team as a DEI Outreach Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience organizing, participating, and supporting outreach and recruitment efforts. They will have a strong skill set and expertise in digital communication and social media campaigns. The ideal candidate will have superior people skills and experience with career counseling/coaching and a strong “customer centered” approach to recruitment. A successful applicant will be joining a team committed to achieving full diversity, equity, and inclusion in the state government workforce.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Under general direction of the Deputy Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), serves in a journey level professional capacity performing complex specialized human resources administration duties for the Diversity Enrichment Program (DEP).

Plans, coordinates, and conducts Job Forums statewide in communities and neighborhoods consisting of substantial protected class populations.

Serves as liaison regarding Job Forums with communities, organizations, and other State Agencies’ recruitment staff.

Consults with various organizational entities within CMS to provide assistance and support to State agencies in meeting targeted recruitment goals and to assure adherence to all governing policies associated with recruitment and selection processes.

Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college and two years of professional human resources experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Requires ability to obtain and solicit relevant information/data from people.
- Requires ability to write correspondence and reports that contain conceptualizations, facts, and descriptive and quantitative inclusions.
- Requires ability to use computer systems, software, templates, or other letter/symbol guides and to instruct others in such equipment usage.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS:
- Requires two (2) years of professional experience in conducting interpersonal/in-person, active recruiting efforts (job fairs, university events, career days, military recruiting).
- Requires two (2) years professional experience in implementing outreach initiatives in a professional environment.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- This position requires the applicant to pass a background check.
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.
- This position requires travel with occasional overnight stays.
- This position requires a current, valid driver’s license.
