Job Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, as a member of a team, assists in performing a range of application services of a limited complexity for the enhancem.entand maintenance of the functions of the Returns and Payment Unit in the Gen Tax Integrated Tax System. Performs applications programming support of the Gen Tax system of limited complexity; Receives instructions in understanding and applying modern systems methodology and standard operating procedures in performing the structured phases of a system lifecycle. Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars and conferences. Travels to attend meetings and training.

  • Assists higher level staff in performing application services of limited complexity for the enhancement and maintenance of the functions associated with the Returns and Payment Unit in the Gen Tax Integrated System, by providing input and documentation, as to the development, and support of the Gen Tax mid-range tax application system; prepares business objects and wrttes Structured Query Language (SQL) in conjunction with the system support: works closely with user area in coding and esting of business objects; prepares system documentation; reviews code; prepares test data and confers with user area to test changes; confers with other Application Services staff in the review of detailed test results and preparing documentation; monitors operation of system and documents required enhancements; follows established methodologies, documentation, standards and standard operation procedures in performing tasks; works closely with higher level Application Services staff; receives increasingly difficult assignments.
  • Performs applications programming support of the Gen Tax system of limited complexity; writes SQL using SQL Server to be used in the business objects or as stand-alone queries; writes programs using fourth generation languages such as Visual Basic. Net; reviews business object modification specifications; codes business objects changes; tests changes and revises business object documentation; reviews test results, works with user area to test changes; places changes in production to ensure they function as designed.
  • Receives instructions in understanding and applying modern systems methodology and standard operating procedures in performing the structured phases of a system lifecycle.
  • Continues education by attending meetings. training sessions. seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and maintain current Application Services products.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields. Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the stated requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of specific proficiency tests and training programs. Requires elementary knowledge of Information Technology concepts and principles, the theories and functions of computer systems, and the principles and techniques of Information Technology documentation. Requires working
knowledge of oral and written communication skills. Prefers one year of technical experience working with Visual Basic (VB), VB using the .NET Framework, and SQL Server. Requires the ability to travel.
Specialized Skills: Requires elementary knowledge of Visual Basic, VB using the .NET Framework, and SQL Server.

 

This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.


Requires the ability to successfully complete a nationwide background check, which includes fingerprints and photograph, as defined by IRS Pub 1075.
