Position Description

The Accountant performs professional accounting work involving the Statewide 9-1-1 Program Fund. This position monitors and reconciles accounts specific to the Statewide 9-1-1 Bureau. The Accountant also serves as a liaison with private telecommunication carriers and 9-1-1 system managers. The ideal candidate is incredibly detail-oriented, organized, and works well with others both in and outside of their work unit. This position includes many employee benefits including health and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick days, and a pension plan. Essential Functions

  • Assists with managing the Statewide 9-1-1 Fund.
  • Serves as liaison between wireless service providers required to submit subscriber files and the Statewide 9-1-1 Bureau.
  • Determines, prepares and processes penalty invoices for delinquent, non-compliant subscribers.
  • Uploads and reconciles the wireless subscriber files to ensure timely posting; monitors and tracks to ensure wireless carriers submit timely subscriber counts.
  • Assists the ISP Office of Finance with preparing, reconciling, reporting and analysis of 9-1-1 financial data such a GAAP reporting, penalty accounts receivable, grant spending, and 9-1-1 Bureau operational spending.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Department of Central Management Services, Department of Innovation and Technology, and the Statewide 9-1-1 Administrator to troubleshoot system problems specific to the 9-1-1 Program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting or four (4) years of technical accounting experience.

  • Ability to pass an Illinois State Police background check and drug screening.
