Position Overview
The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Clinical Nurse Educator for the Alton Mental Health Center located in Alton, Illinois. Under direction of the Director of Nursing, monitors, reviews and reports all trainings throughout the continuum of care. Maintains oversight of training curriculum and educates staff regarding all programs. Serves as working supervisor. Directs all aspects of classroom orientation for professional, paraprofessional and support staff.
Essential Functions
- Serves as the Clinical Nurse Educator.
- Maintains oversight of training curriculum and educates staff regarding all programs, including but not limited to prevention of transmission of disease, safety products, post exposure processes and services provided by the hospital.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Directs all aspects of classroom orientation for professional, paraprofessional and support staff.
- Reviews and revises annual nursing/technician competency evaluation for all nursing staff.
- Coordinates annual training curriculum and dates for scheduling of all direct care staff advising managers of staff deficiencies.
- Provides professional nursing service to patients including admission, administering medications, hands on care including emergency interventions including restraints, code blue responses and performance of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in nursing.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of professional experience monitoring, reviewing and reporting on all training of new nurses for a public or private organization.
- Three (3) years of professional experience coordinating resources to ensure appropriate training is provided in accordance with rules and regulations.
- Three (3) years of professional experience directing orientation and designing and developing new training programs and classroom curriculum and revising existing training programs.
- Three (3) years of professional experience reviewing and revising annual competency evaluations and conducting refresher courses prior to annual competencies as required.
- Three (3) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking multiple projects.
- Three (3) years of professional experience reviewing, analyzing, revising and composing instructions and procedures and interpreting materials for a public or private organization.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification and Instructor Certification.
- Requires the physical ability to restrain patients as necessary to prevent injury to patient or others.
- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
