Job Responsibilities

The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Support Service Coordinator I for the Alton Mental Health Center located in Alton, Illinois to provide guidance and direction to staff in the preparation and serving of food for patients at the Alton Mental Health Center on an assigned shift. Serves as designated lead worker. Directs staff in the cleanup of the kitchen, dishes and equipment.


Job Responsibilities

  1. Provides guidance and direction to staff in the preparation and serving of food for patients at the Alton Mental Health Center on an assigned shift.
  2. Serves as designated lead worker.
  3. Determines daily food requirements and requisitions food from the general storeroom.
  4. Assists with ordering of perishable foods to be used for daily consumption and/or emergency supplies due to spoilage or late deliveries of bulk items.
  5. Assists in ensuring that all food items, supplies, equipment and storage areas are properly secured at the end of the assigned shift.
  6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of High School.
  2. Requires (2) two years of experience, such as could be gained at the Support Service Provider level in the dietary department.
  3. Requires possession of a valid Illinois Food Service Sanitation Certificate or ANSI accredited Certified Food Protection Manager certificate per PA 100-0194.


Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires ability to instruct others in procedures used in the Dietary Department and the ability to interpret menus and instruct subordinates in the use of modified recipes and diets.
  2. Requires ability to use Microsoft Office.
  3. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  4. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
  5. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.


Work Hours:  Mon - Fri, 5:00am - 1:30pm; Every three weeks, works Sat & Sun, 7:00am - 3:30pm with Mon & Fri off
