Position Overview

Under General Supervision of the Chief of Security / Safety conducts responsible and confidential investigative work into violations of health care statutes on a facility-wide basis; compiles and analyzes facts pertaining to cases under investigation; completes investigations by preparing reports summarizing such activities;  makes recommendations for corrective measures resulting from investigations which have a facility-wide impact.  Travels in the performance of duties.

Job Responsibilities

25%     1.  Conducts responsible and confidential investigative work into violations of health care statues on a facility-wide basis.

 

25%     2.  Prepares typed investigatory packages upon the completion of such investigations.

 

20%     3.  Compiles and analyzes facts pertaining to cases under investigation.  Gathers data, receives, and reads reports, reviews, and analyzes relevant documents concerning cases under investigation.

 

15%     4.  Maintains confidential files pertaining to completed cases or cases under investigation.

 

10%     5.  Travels to provide oral testimony in criminal or administrative hearing related to the results of investigations.  Coordinates investigations at the facility providing advice and guidance to security staff assisting on a more complex investigation.

 

  5%     6.  Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college, with coursework in law, government, liberal arts, history or business or public administration, plus three years of experience in law enforcement investigatory work or a related field; OR
  2. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with major coursework in law, government, liberal arts, history or business or public administration, plus one year professional experience in law enforcement investigatory work or a related field; OR
  3. Requires completion of the F.B.I. National Academy or comparable law enforcement schooling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires ability to communicate effectively with others.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to travel.
