Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an Office Associate for the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center located in Anna, Illinois to serve as the payroll clerk. Assists with Worker’s Compensation claims, enters employees’ time into timekeeping system and corrects insurance discrepancies.
Essential Functions

Serves as the payroll clerk for the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center.

Enters employee time into timekeeping system.

Calculates and makes the proper salary adjustments to correct insurance discrepancies and enters into the payroll system.

Responds to inquiries of a non-technical nature in person or by telephone, exercising discretion and judgement in referring sensitive payroll or workers’ compensation issues to managers.

Performs manual calculations for special payroll entries which include salary adjustments, lump sum payments, temporary assignment payments, and any other payroll adjustments to accurately pay employees for the duties they perform outside their regular position.

Confirms time off slips have been completed for each occurrence of utilization of time by employees.

Assists with Workers’ Compensation claims. In absence of supervisor, compiles and completes Workers’ Compensation claim forms for submission to Employee Risk Management Section.

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.

Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at a rate of forty-five (45) wpm.

Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.

Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
