Job Responsibilities
Under direction and in accordance with established standards, procedures, and policies, serves as a charge nurse (Lead Worker) to lower level nursing staff; participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team; directs personnel in the delivery of individual care and treatment consistent with individual treatment plans.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires (a) graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in as associate or diploma degree in nursing and two years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience; or (b) a bachelor's degree in nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or (c) a master's degree in nursing. Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. Requires extensive knowlege of professional nursing principles and procedures and theory. Requires extensive knowlege of set up, application and use of care of specialized medical equipment. Requires extensive knowledge of the methods and techniques utilized in developing educational programs. Requires extensive knowledge of pharmacology of commonly prescribed medicines and drugs and their therapeutic and possible adverse reactions. Requires ability to develop and maintain harmonious working relationships with individual care staff. Requires ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate. Requires ability to apply emergency medical techniques such as CPR, control of bleeding and airway maintenance.
Employment Conditions
Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
Requires CPR certification.
Education Degree
