Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Support Service Worker for the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center located in Anna, Illinois to assist other dietary services staff with the preparation and serving of food items for individuals. Performs cleaning, maintenance work and maintains sanitary standards of kitchen, food service area and storerooms. Dates, labels, and stores dry stock and assists with stocking of food items.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Prepares carts consisting of dishes, plates, bowls, glasses, silverware, serving utensils, adaptive equipment, coffee cups and meal tickets for use on the Living Units.

  2. Cleans and sanitizes pots, pans, and cooking utensils manually and in dish washing machine.

  3. Moves food items from carts to freezer, from freezer to shelving and from preparation area to carts for transportation to units.

  4. Serves meals, salads and desserts to individuals.

  5. Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six (6) months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Per P.A. 98-0566 Requires ability to complete a Food Handlers training course and obtain a Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of employment.

  2. Requires the ability to perform heavy physical work.

  3. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.

  4. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.  

  5. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.   

  6. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.

  7. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
