Position Overview

 

Under general supervision of the Business Administrator (Public Service Administrator), performs a variety of complex technical accounting work including the posting of financial documents and accounting information to financial books or entry and General Ledgers in the accounting systems; audits financial documents including invoice vouchers. Manually calculates and maintains the facilities employee time and attendance records on individual records.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  1. Prepares and audtis a variety of complex financial documents, including vouchers and invoices against receiving reports in the AIS accounting system and the TIMS inventory system.
  2. Maintains the facilities employees time and attendance records.
  3. Provides assistance to the facility cashier by receiving and receipting incoming monies for all funds.
  4. Provides assistance to other Business Office accounting staff in the performance of duties.
  5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course or three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Requires working knowledge of accounting techniques.
  • Requires working knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures.
  • Requires working knowledge of office methods and procedures.
  • Requires working knowledge of principles and functions of standard office accounting machines and equipment.
  • Requires ability to apply established accounting techniques.

 

Conditions of Employment

 

  1. Ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check. 
  2. Ability to pass a drug screen.  On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois. Please note that although the law has changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department’s zero tolerance Drug Testing policy.
