Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a detailed oriented person to serve as the Human Resource Associate at the Centralia Correctional Center. This individual will work with employee’s evaluations, worker’s compensation, and personnel transactions. We are seeking a candidate that would be a self -motivated, task oriented, organized individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.
Essential Functions
- Prepares and submits personnel transactions and documents.
- Maintains tracking systems, logs, and prepares reports.
- Utilizes computer system to enter data and create logs, access information, communicate, prepare correspondence.
- Keyboards a variety of difficult material including records, reports, correspondence, and other documents involving personnel issues.
- Enters Electronic Personnel Action Requests, processes position vacancy bids, bid records, and participates in the interview preparation process.
- Opens and distributes mail, responds to phone calls and routine human resource related inquiries.
- Responds to Subpoenas, employment verifications, Public Aid inquiries, unemployment hearings, etc.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
- Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience preparing transactions in a personnel setting.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of preparing monthly and semi-monthly reports.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of maintaining a tracking system and preparing notices for performance evaluations, leaves of absence, and/or position descriptions.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience maintaining personnel files, confidential files, and/or medical information files.
- Prefers at least two (2) years working in a confidential setting.
- Prefers at least one (1) year working with workers' compensation.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of opening and distributing mail and responding to phone calls related to human resource related inquiries.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of utilizing computer system to enter data and create logs and access information.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of processing position vacancy bids and/or bid records.
- Prefers at least one (1) year participating in the interview preparation process.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
