Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Mental Health Technician III for the Murray Developmental Center located in Centralia, Illinois to provide physical support with personal care services to individuals on an assigned unit, on an assigned shift. Serves as designated lead worker. Conducts individual and group programs. Through monitoring and supervision verifies individual safety and protection. Teaches and directs individuals in the maintenance of a clean, safe and secure environment.
Essential Functions

- Teaches and directs individuals in the maintenance of a clean, safe and secure environment.
- Attends and completes scheduled training as required by Department of Human Services (DHS), the center and the programmatic unit.
- Assess/evaluates daily and projected staff coverage needs.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
- Requires successful completion of an approved training program and one (1) year experience in, or applicable to the care, treatment and development of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
- Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
- Requires ability to perform heavy lifting, carrying and pushing of wheelchairs and to lift, turn and/or reposition individuals.
- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
