Position Overview
Under direction, serves as an Illinois licensed staff physician providing comprehensive medical examinations, diagnostic and treatment services; provides Center-wide consultation in psychiatry and neurology; serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as staff physician.
- Completes comprehensive physical examinations, health assessments, sensorimotor assessments, laboratory evaluations on all new admissions within 72 hours and on all transfers, discharges and at annual reviews.
- Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary teams.
- Serves as a member on the behavior management, medical services pharmaceutical advisory and death committees.
- Confers and consults with parents/guardians in relation to health matters, treatment provided and hospitalization requirement.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires an Illinois license to practice medicine.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires a working knowledge of the basic principles and practices of general medicine and surgery, including the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries.
- Requires ability to medically treat illness and injury and perform routine medical diagnoses.
- Requires ability to prepare detailed and accurate medical records and reports.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to serve on-call, after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related Policies and guidance.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
