Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision, provides a full range of professional nursing services in the care and treatment of intellectually disabled individuals on an assigned shift; plans and provides direct individual care to intellectually disabled individuals based on assessment of the individuals' needs; develops a health care treatment plan, assesses and documents the individuals status upon admission and throughout the treatment episode in accordance with established policies and procuedures; serves as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

Requires graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing.  Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.  This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.  Requires working knowledge of diversified professional nursing principles, concepts and practices.  Requires working knowledge of set up application and use and care of specialized medical equiqment.  Requires working knowledge of pharmacology of commonly prescribed medicines and drugs and their therapeutic and possible adverse reactions.  Requires ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.  Requires ability to provide professional nursing care based on orders of the physician and the specific needs of the patient.  Requires ability to evaluate patient condidtion and behavior and prepare accurate detailed records of such observations.  Requies ability to apply emergency medical techniques such as Cardiopulmonarey Resuscitation, contol of bleeding, airway maintenance.  Requires such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, control of bleeding, airway maintenance.  Requires ability to instruct non-nursing personnel in the proper practices and procedures of patient care.  Requires ability to maintain security of the work area and comply with all facility rules, regulations, policies and directives. 

Employment Conditions

 

Requires ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.

Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
