Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Support Service Worker for the Murray Developmental Center located in Centralia, Illinois to operate washers and dryers in the cleaning of individuals clothing and linens. Measures and fits individuals for proper attire. Purchases, receives, receipts & marks new clothing. Maintains individuals wardrobes and condemns clothing or sends it to be repaired. Travels in the performance of duties.
Job Responsibilities
- Operates washers and dryers in the cleaning of individuals clothing and linens at Murray Developmental Center.
- Maintains individual’s wardrobes.
- Sorts and folds clean clothes and places clothes on carts for transportation to proper living units.
- Receives, receipts & marks new clothing.
- Gathers soiled clothing and transports it to the washing area.
- Measures individuals periodically to determine their correct size.
- Cleans washers and dryers each day.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six months experience in a multi-shift laundry/clothing program.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Requires the ability to travel within and outside of the work location.
- Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
- Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
Work Hours: Choice of 6:00 a.m. - 2:15 p.m., 7:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. Monday-Friday
