Agency Statement
Charged with preserving, protecting, and promoting Illinois’ natural resources, Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) employees oversee water, wildlife, wetlands and oil wells, parks, historic sites – and everything in between. The Office of Land Management (OLM) oversees nearly 400 individual parcels of land and institutes a wide variety of programs and activities advocating outdoor recreation through sustainable use, conservation and preservation. The Historic Sites Division of the Office of Land Management oversees over 57 Historic Sites, Monuments, and Memorials. OLM facilitates activities from small group interpretive programming at Historical Sites, to hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
The Office of Land Management is seeking individuals with a desire to aid the DNR with the maintenance and cleanliness of the state's parks and historic sites. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
Short Description
Under direct supervision, performs routine and unskilled manual labor in the development, maintenance and
improvement of any trail system at Jim Edgar Panther Creek SF&W A associated with the SYMMS Recreational
Trails Program.
Job Responsibilities
Performs routine and unskilled manual labor in the development, maintenance and repair of trails associated
with the SYMMS Recreational Trails Program.
Operates tractors and trucks for hauling, laying, and spreading gravel on trails; operates simple equipment,
machinery and tools for repair ol trails.
Installs signs identifying trail head; installs signs identifying trails, length of trail, difficulty of trail, etc.
Performs routine maintenance of motor vehicles and equipment in changing oil, fluids, filters, spark plugs
and belts.
Assists Site Superintendent in maintaining simple records related to costs associated with supplies and
materials used; maintains activity reports identifying duties performed and time frames to complete.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the
duties enumerated above.
Knowledge, Skills, and Responsibilities
Requires a valid driver's license; requires ability to operate and maintain tractors and trucks.
Requires ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
Requires good physical condition to perform strenuous manual labor tasks;
Requires ability to operate simple equipment, machinery and tools.

Must have a valid and current driver's license
Must at least be 18 years old or older to apply
