Position Overview

The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is the state’s lead division serving people with disabilities committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and racial justice. The mission of the Division is to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals of employment, education, and independent living. The Division is seeking to hire a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual Accountant Supervisor with good communication skills to supervise the accounting operations in the business office at the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education – Wood Street (ICRE – W). This position directs accounting functions of the business office and reviews and tracks the contractual spending plan. The Accountant Supervisor provides input on issues and concerns as well as system enhancements.

 

Essential Functions

  • Supervises the accounting operations in the business office at the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education – Wood Street (ICRE – W). 
  • Directs accounting functions of financial review, editing of vouchers, error detection and resolution.  
  • Manages the oversight, review and tracking of contractual spending plan. 
  • Serves as a working supervisor. 
  • Provides input on issues and concerns as well as system enhancements. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties as enumerated above.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, with courses in business administration and accounting.
  • Requires two (2) years of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of professional experience supervising the accounting operations in a business office in a public or private organization.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience analyzing data and making recommendations to determine a specific course of action while maintaining compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Two (2) of professional experience preparing complex fiscal reports, charts and spreadsheets in various accessible formats such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Presentations.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in procuring services through a competitive process in a public or private organization.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience communicating clearly and tactfully orally and in writing with a wide range of individuals that include employees, supervisors, agency staff, vendors and customers.
  • Two (2) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, training staff, approving time off, and preparing and signing performance evaluations.

 

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

  • Requires ability to travel.
