Position Overview:
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Office of Inspector General, Bureau of Medicaid Integrity is seeking to hire a highly capable and experienced professional to serve as Audit Supervisor to oversee pharmacy provider audits. In this capacity, the Audit Supervisor will provide technical guidance and logistical support to the auditors and manage the audits to completion. The Audit Supervisor will be responsible for the quality and accuracy of the audit output through oversight starting with validations that the payment of claims complies with the regulations, feedback to the auditor for any auditing errors, communication to the auditee of discrepancies, and provide support in all audit conferences. This candidate will also be responsible for reviewing data to determine trends and make recommendations for future audits.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in Medicaid policy, pharmacy claims processing and procedures, and problem-solving skills to address audits of high complexity. Ideal skills include the ability to exercise sound judgment in the identification of priorities, to work collaboratively with internal and external partners, proactively address issues, and to ensure timely completion of all work. The candidate will exhibit strong leadership skills to achieve set goals while demonstrating independent initiative. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to be successful in this role.

Essential Functions
- Subject to management approval, serves as an Audit Supervisor in the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS)
- Serves as full line supervisor
- Confers with providers in informal reviews
- Provides input into the revision of audit manuals, standard operating procedures, audit protocols, and guidelines for obtaining goals/objectives
- Attends staff meetings and conferences to keep abreast of any changes and/or revisions
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with courses in business administration, accounting, or finance
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the fields of fiscal management, accounting, budgeting, internal auditing, insurance and/or finance
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional experience in pharmacy operations and compliance
- Two (2) years of work experience utilizing the National Drug Code (NDC) Directory
- Two (2) years of professional experience with computerized pharmacy information and dispensing systems, operations, and clinical pharmacy services
- Two (2) years of professional auditing experience
- Two (2) years of professional experience drafting reports
- One (1) year of professional experience interpreting and applying Medicaid laws, rules, or policies
- One (1) year of work experience reviewing and analyzing medical or pharmacy claims data reports
- One (1) year professional experience serving in a supervisory or leadership role
Conditions of Employment
- Requires completion of background check and self-disclosure of criminal history
- Requires the ability to travel statewide in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
- Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop
- This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.)
requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of
Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings - Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties
