POSITION SUMMARY
The Department of Central Management Services (CMS) is seeking to hire a high-performing candidate that is passionate about data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. Our Business Data Analyst role is a great fit for a candidate looking to expand their knowledge of data visualization, descriptive analysis, and statistical modeling. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with large data sets, command-line analysis, and design thinking. Success in this position will involve bringing analysis and data product development to bear on operating decisions within the agency and its bureaus. The Business Data Analyst will work within the Office of Project Management as part of a supportive team on the frontline of integrating data driven decision making into government. POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Under direction of the Data Analytics Manager, serves as data analytics resource and operational improvement analyst to Agency executives and administrative staff.
- Extracts, indexes, merges, and manipulates large and multiple data sets into databases and analytical formats to improve data management.
- Provides technical advice and presents recommendations to senior leadership in the development of survey questions and operational key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Identifies analytics projects that could bring significant value to the Agency.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
- Requires one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an Agency approved professional management training program.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS
- Requires two (2) year of professional experience using data visualization or operational efficiency tools, such as Power BI, and/or Power Automate.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience developing prototypes in scripting languages such as R, Python, or similar.
- Requires one (1) year of administrative experience in a data analytics or business analysis specialist role, creating and maintaining documentation for a public or business organization.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience designing, building, and optimizing data ingestion pipelines from structured and unstructured sources.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Prefers two (2) year of professional experience using data visualization or operational efficiency tools, such as Power BI, and/or Power Automate.
Prefers one (1) year of professional experience developing prototypes in scripting languages such as R, Python, or similar.
Prefers one (1) year of administrative experience in a data analytics or business analysis specialist role, creating and maintaining documentation for a public or business organization.
Prefers one (1) year of professional experience designing, building, and optimizing data ingestion pipelines from structured and unstructured sources.
Prefers one (1) year of professional experience working with Microsoft Forms and Power Platforms.
Prefers college coursework in computer science, statistics, data analytics, mathematics, economics, or directly related fields.
