Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, analytical, results-oriented professional with excellent written and oral communication skills to serve as Children’s Behavioral Health Transformation Initiative Systems Administrator. Under administrative direction of the Children’s Behavioral Health Transformation Initiative, this position will provide experienced professional coaching, consultation, and project management for the maintenance, continuous improvement, and consistent application of the BEACON portal and Capacity Reporting Tool.  The position will serve as a subject matter expert for cases entered into BEACON to identified partners in other state agencies, including the Divisions of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities in the Department of Human Services, the Department of Healthcare and Family Services, the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Department of Public Health, and the Illinois State Board of Education.  The position will also conduct case reviews and provide consultation to ensure stakeholders are routed to the appropriate community-based or residential services.  This position provides a great opportunity for someone who has the desire to guide professional staff to resources outside of the child welfare system to link families to mental and behavioral health resources within their community.  DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organizational and communication skills, with strong leadership capabilities.  We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as Children’s Behavioral Health Transformation Initiative Systems Administrator and statewide Administrator for Behavioral Health Care and Ongoing Navigation (BEACON)
  • Provides data analysis and develops strategic insights
  • Conducts case reviews of BEACON portal entries and provides expert consultation to evaluate additional action steps or best practices that should be followed
  • Serves as BEACON data/dashboard expert
  • Provides high level input into overall Children’s Behavioral Health Transformation Blueprint implementation and evaluation
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college
  • Requires three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years of professional experience in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures in a public or private organization
  • 2 years of professional experience in the management of a program focused on children and youth
  • 2 years of experience serving as a representative of a public or private organization
  • 2 years of professional experience developing solutions to systemic challenges in a public or private organization
