Position Overview

Our agency is seeking a motivated individual with a passion for ensuring the safety and soundness of the state’s financial institutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, organizes, formulates, controls, and evaluates policies and procedures for the administration of the Chicago Risk Management Supervision
  • Directs, coordinates and reviews the activities of support and management personnel
  • Establishes, implements and monitors examination procedures, standards and objectives designed to effectively monitor and regulate banks
  • Evaluates the safety and soundness criteria and makes a recommendation for approval or disapproval of applications for chartering new banks, converting national banks to state charters, reorganizations of failing banks, acquisitions of banks and their subsidiaries, mergers, consolidations, bank custody, and bank dissolutions
  • Serves as a member of the Division of Banking senior management staff
  • Serves as full line supervisor
  • Reviews existing and proposed statutes and recommends revisions to banking laws and rules
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with courses in accounting, corporate finance, banking and monetary theory
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to four years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization with professional accounting, banking or examining experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers five years of progressively responsible experience as an executive officer or manager of a depository institution with complex responsibilities supervising multiple functions
  • Prefers five years of progressively responsible experience as a bank regulator
  • Prefers at least four years of experience supervising a team of seven or more
  • Prefers at least four years of experience examining or overseeing the examining of banks
  • Prefers at least four years of experience in the banking industry in which a thorough knowledge of industry rules, laws and regulations was required
