Position Overview
The Division of Patrol is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Guard II. Under general supervision, on an assigned shift, patrols and controls access to state owned or occupied facilities and grounds (including 555 West Monroe Street, Chicago, 160 North LaSalle Street, Chicago and 115 South LaSalle Street, Chicago); conducts regular inspections of buildings to detect breaches in security or unsafe conditions; confers with supervisor and other security personnel to evaluate security measures and restore facility security; receives and participates in training updates; performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the job duties.

Essential Functions
- Patrols and controls access to buildings and grounds
- Conducts regular inspections of buildings to detect breaches in security or unsafe conditions
- Confers with supervisor and other security personnel regularly to evaluate security measurers and sustain a safe and secure building
- Receives and participates in training updates on security techniques, applicable law and procedures to ensure building security
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of (4) four years of high school.
- requires completion of six months of safety and security experience as a watch attendant, security guard or related position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers (2) two years of professional experience securing facilities utilizing security requirements and regulations.
- Prefers (2) two years of professional experience utilizing emergency response procedures and techniques, including first aid, CPR, fire/safety control and response protocols for security breaches.
- Prefers (2) two years of professional experience utilizing security enforcement regulations, practices and techniques.
- Prefers ability to communicate security regulations, general information and direct and control public with firmness, courtesy and tact.
- Prefers ability to recognize and provide initial response to security breaches and safety hazards.
- Prefers ability to complete security training, follow written procedures/work instructions and to organize observed facts.
