Position Overview
The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is the state’s lead division serving people with disabilities committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and racial justice. The mission of the Division is to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals of employment, education, and independent living. This position serves as the Bureau of Home and Community Based Supports Region 1/South Regional Liaison and provides daily consultation and technical assistance to staff and service agencies and conducts training related to the services provided under the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Waiver. The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a self-motivated and organized individual with strong communication skills to serve as Regional Liaison.
Essential Functions
- Serves as Regional Liaison for Bureau of Home and Community Based Support Region 1/South providing consultation and technical assistance.
- Provides technical assistance to Rehabilitation Counselors and supervisors in the field offices regarding home services program service delivery issues.
- Researches resources for and evaluates the provision of services in the Home Services Program.
- Coordinates the development and delivery of training.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requires which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, with courses in social welfare administration, rehabilitation counseling, social work, vocational guidance or a closely related field.
- Requires a minimum of two (2) years’ experience related to field of specialization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional experience working with a Medicaid waiver program in a public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of professional experience working with federal and state requirements for a direct service for individuals with disabilities in a public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of professional experience researching and analyzing trends in a direct service program and making recommendations for policy and/or procedural changes and training.
- Two (2) years of professional experience working collaboratively to analyze issues and adopt an effective course of action.
- Two (2) years of professional experience providing technical assistance and consultation to community providers and staff in the provision of services to eliminate and/or reduce barriers to individuals with disabilities to allow them to function independently.
- Two (2) years of professional experience interacting and communicating clearly and effectively both orally and in writing, with a wide range of individuals that include state agency officials, the public, employers, community service providers, and internal and external stakeholders.
