Essential Functions

  • Serves as full-line supervisor.
  • In accordance with established standards and administrative policies as nursing supervisor in an assigned unit has 24 hour accountability with authority for total supervision of staff in the delivery of care by evaluation, assessments, procedure and outcome and responsibility for continuing care of residents by working with other facility staff in the areas of restorative nursing, dietary, social work, spirituality, physical therapy, activity/leisure and other disciplines pertinent to resident needs
  • Develops and establishes the goals and objectives of nursing care and clinical support services. 
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in nursing.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization
  • Requires licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of professional experience supervising professional nursing staff.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience recommending and implementing nursing policies and procedures relative to latest trends and nursing standards.
  • One (1) year of professional experience reviewing program needs, setting priorities, and assigning nursing staff to ensure compliance with standards of care and practice for a public or private organization.
  • One (1) year of professional experience training nursing staff on nursing care practices and techniques.
  • One (1) year of professional nursing experience communicating in verbal or written form with patients and/or individuals.
  • One (1) year of professional experience completing and conducting employee performance evaluations.
  • One (1) year of professional experience recommending and implementing disciplinary actions following collective bargaining agreements.

• This position is considered sedentary work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(a). Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time and requires occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing unassisted.

• On-call and overtime are a condition of employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime, and may be required to work alternating weekends. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
