Essential Functions

  • Serves as Home Administrator, who develops and executes programs, policies and procedures encompassing the operations of the resident services units and fiscal services units in collaboration with management personnel.
  • Serves as full-line supervisor.
  • Confers with the Director of Nursing regarding resident nursing care and mandatory staffing requirements to meet hours of care standards and guidelines.
  • Confers with Facility Adjutant regarding total member services.
  • Formulates the annual budget arid reports on details of finished proposals to Agency Director.
  • Through correspondence and/or personal contact, communicates with veterans, community and other public organizations, groups of concern, to stimulate interest and promote proactive cooperation in securing benefits for the residents.
  • Confers with Facility Human Resources' Director, reviewing and approving hiring, promotions, discharges, and other transactions generated by the Human Resources Department.
  • Responsible and accountable for state property within assigned division/section as determined by the Department's Property and Control policy.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business administration, health administration or public administration.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public, business or health organization.
  • Current and valid State of Illinois Dept. of Professional Regulation issued Nursing Home Administrator License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience supervising/managing staff (i.e., approving time off, assigning work, motivating, staff utilization, evaluating performance, and managing resources to meet area goals).
  • Three (3) years of professional experience developing and administering strategic goals and objectives for a public or business organization.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing, installing, and evaluating the use of new and revised methods, procedures, or performance standards.
  • One (1) year of experience recommending and administering discipline or resolving grievances.
  • One (1) year of experience with gathering and compiling data for the purpose of generating complex reports.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to pass a background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical.
  • Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
  • Requires continuing education to be current.
  • Requires the ability to obtain and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
  • Requires ability to become interview certified within two (2) months of employment.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  •  Requires the ability to use and secure a state issued mobile device, e.g., cellular phone, laptop computer, tablet, etc.
  • Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.
