Position Overview
The Marketing Data Specialist leads efforts within the Office of Minority Economic Empowerment (OMEE) to market opportunities and programs to minority businesses, measure impact of existing programs through data analysis and program evaluation, research best practices to assist businesses, and partner with stakeholders to leverage resources. OMEE is committed to providing minority-, women-, persons with disabilities and veteran-owned small businesses and entrepreneurs across the state with equitable access to opportunities and resources. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating an inclusive business ecosystem for communities that have traditionally faced systemic barriers to entry and growth. Job Responsibilities
1. Serves as marketing and data specialist for minority-owned businesses.
2. Consults with statewide business specialists regarding business growth opportunities for minority-owned businesses.
3. Establishes working relationships with other state agencies, federal agencies, local agencies, community groups, local officials and other related partners.
4. Advises and provides expertise and direction with marketing projects for OMEE.
5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business, marketing, data management/analysis, public policy or public administration.
2. Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public, nonprofit, or business organization with an emphasis on marketing, data analysis, program evaluation, economic development or policy.
Preferred Qualifications (in priority order)
1. Prefer one or more years of experience working with small businesses and marginalized business groups, such as minority-, women-, people with disabilities-, and veteran-owned businesses.
2. Prefer one or more years of experience using data to develop programs, grants, and/or initiatives that drive equity and inclusion.
3. Prefer one or more years of experience developing and implementing marketing initiatives in a manner easily understood by diverse audiences.
4. Prefer one or more years of experience researching business trends and identifying resources for minority-, women-, people with disabilities-, and veteran-owned businesses.
5. Prefer a Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, data management/analysis, public policy or public administration.
Conditions of Employment
1. Must be able to pass a background check.
2. Must be able to travel with some overnight stays.
3. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
