Position Overview

Under immediate supervision, on an assigned shift performs beginning level duties on a unit for the care, treatment and rehabilitation for individual served with mental illness/ assist in providing physical care, developing self-help skills and supervision of daily living skills.

Job Responsibilities

  1. On an assigned shift performs beginning level duties on a unit for the care, treatment and rehabilitation for individual served with mental illness/ assist in providing physical care, developing self-help skills and supervision of daily living skills.
  2. Assists in providing personal care activities of daily living (ADL's) such as showering, oral hygiene, care and management of personal living space and personal belongings.
  3. Performs beginning level program duties.
  4. Escorts patients to recreational activities and medical appointments as assigned.
  5. Assists in performance of housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, clean, therapeutic environment including dusting furniture and maintaining clothing inventories.
  6. Performs simple nursing procedures, i.e.
  7. Completes all Department of Human Services (DHS) and Chicago-Read Mental Health Center mandatory training requirements and participates in continuing education workshops and/or seminars to maintain age and disability specific professional competency through observation and evaluation.
  8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are within the scope of duties enumerated.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  2. Requires successful completion of a comprehensive training program at the Mental Health Technician Trainee level.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
  2. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  3. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Work Hours:  Various shifts. See below:  

A-South 1st shift (7:00am-3:00pm) [2 positions]

B-North 1st shift (7:00am-3:00pm) [1 position]

J-West 3rd shift (11:00pm-7:00am) [1 position]

*All positions – various day off patterns with schedules that repeat every 14 days.
