Position Overview

The Office of Clinical, Administrative and Program Support is seeking to hire a Pharmacy Technician located in Chicago, Illinois to assists in dispensing medications. Replenishes unit dose medication for Med Select. Loads and unloads unit dose cassettes from delivery truck. Distributes cassettes to units. Performs duties in accordance with all applicable Public Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA), Public Health, Joint Commission, Department of Human Services (OHS) and Chicago-Read Mental Health Center rules and procedures as well as other applicable laws and regulations. Read, reviews and compounds prescriptions. Inspects unit mediation rooms for expired and properly stocked medications. Completes simple housekeeping duties. 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Assists in dispensing medications.
  2. Reads, reviews and compounds prescriptions.
  3. Inspects unit medication rooms for expired and properly stocked medications.
  4. Completes simple housekeeping duties.
  5. Attends and actively participates in mandatory training.
  6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years high school.
  2. Requires Illinois registration as a registered certified pharmacy technician.

 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires ability to prepare pharmaceutical prescriptions.
  2. Requires ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports of pharmaceuticals purchased, dispensed and stored.
  3. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  4. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
  5. Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.

Work Hours:  8:00AM - 4:30PM Monday- Friday
