Position Overview

As program manager, develops, articulates, and administers statewide policies and procedures for enforcement and program regulation in accordance with the Boxing and Full Contact Martial Arts Act.  Maintains records and ensures event permit compliance. Directs and supervises the maintenance of licensure documentation and data. Serves as full line supervisor. Serves as an agency liaison to the State of Illinois Athletic Board. Attends and participates in meetings and trainings.

Essential Functions

  • As program manager, develops, articulates, and administers statewide policies and procedures for enforcement and program regulation in accordance with the Boxing and Full Contact Martial Arts Act, not only for Full Contact Martial Arts programs, but also significantly for Boxing programs.
  • Maintains records and ensures event permit compliance.
  • Directs and supervises the maintenance of licensure documentation and data of promoters, matchmakers, managers, referees, judges, timekeepers, and contestants.
  • Provides backup to, and assists as needed, the Professional Boxing Program Manager.
  • Serves as full line supervisor.
  • Serves as an agency liaison to the State of Illinois Athletic Board.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and trainings for boxing and full contact martial arts related matters/issues.  
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least four years of progressively responsible regulatory experience in professional boxing, amateur boxing, and/or full contact martial arts. 
  • Prefers at least four years of progressively responsible experience ensuring regulatory compliance with Acts, laws, and/or statutes in any field. 
  • Prefers at least two years of experience as a supervisor of a staff of two or more. 

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires the ability to work overtime on nights and weekends.
  • Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties. 
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
