The Department of Insurance is seeking to hire a Public Service Administrator, Opt. 3.  This position provides specialized expertise in the regulatory review and evaluation of the data processing environment and information systems controls established and utilized by insurance companies.  Travels to various sites to evaluate and determine compliance or non-compliance with regulatory statutes and internal control standards relating to company's information system; prepares reports of findings for inclusion in examination report; interacts with insurance company representatives and financial examination staff in obtaining, clarifying and providing information and relating examination progress, findings and statutory requirements and interpretations; monitors continued compliance through subsequent reviews; provides technical assistance to financial examination staff involving data processing applications.  We invite all qualified applicants to apply.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts reviews and monitoring of the information system controls established and utilized by insurance companies and evaluates compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards
  • Prepares electronic work papers and other documentation supporting conclusions reached during the review and evaluation of insurance company's information system
  • Interacts with insurance company personnel in conducting information systems reviews
  • Provides on-site assistance to financial examination staff in preparing and executing Departmental approved audit software programs and utilizing other applications
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires extensive knowledge of agency programs and service objectives, activities and operational systems. 
  • Requires extensive knowledge of agency policies and procedures
  • Requires ability to analyze administrative problems and apply standards and requirements to determine compliance with statutory laws and regulations
  • Requires ability to develop, install and evaluate new and revised methods, procedures and performance standards
  • Requires ability to exercise judgment and discretion in developing, implementing and interpreting departmental policies and procedures
  • Requires ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Requires ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships. 

**Specialized Skills**

  • Knowledge of financial examination procedures and requirements of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners related to insurance company information systems
