The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS)’s, Division of Child Support Services is seeking to hire a highly qualified and motivated professional to lead our Cook Central Region in the role of Regional Team Supervisor. This position will direct a team tasked with establishing and enforcing child support activities.  The position will also serve as a liaison between the Division and other organizations providing interpretation of child support programs and procedures, case process and in the application of child support law.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, organizational, leadership and analytical skills to be successful in evaluating the operations of Team G in the Central Region.

Essential Functions

  • Under general direction, serves as a Regional Team Supervisor in planning, directing, and evaluating child support establishment and enforcement activities for Team G in the Central Region
  • Serves as a working supervisor
  • Serves as liaison between the Division of (CSS) Child Support Services and the Circuit Clerks, the Attorney General’s staff, the State’s Attorneys, legal representatives, and others states in the interpretation of CSS programs and procedures, in case processing, and in the application of child support law
  • Researches program issues and compiles information
  • Develops and provides continual, updated training in the technical aspects of child support law, in legal methods and remedies, in the Statewide Child Support System, and in other technical and caseload management aspects of the CSS program
  • Appears in court as a witness to proceedings or as an expert on difficult child support cases
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration
  • Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience working with state and federal policy as it relates to child support programs
  • One (1) year of experience working with child support intake and collection programs
  • Two (2) years of administrative experience supervising staff in a business or public organization requiring caseload management
  • Two (2) years of experience analyzing production reports, computer data, and information from management meetings to evaluate policies, operating procedures, and production results to determine next steps
  • Two (2) years of professional experience with the operations of child support establishment and enforcement
  • Three (3) years of professional experience serving as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders such as government agencies addressing child support services
  • Two (2) years of professional experience developing and implementing child support program and operational policies, goals, and objectives in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Two (2) years of professional experience interpreting child support statues, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for a state agency, public or private organization

Specialized Skills

  • Requires two (2) years of experience working with state and federal policy as it relates to child support programs
  • Requires one (1) year of experience working with child support intake and collection programs

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to pass a national background check prior to employment due to accessing confidential federal tax information
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
  • Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop
