Position Overview
Under direct supervision; performs a variety of statistical duties in the analysis, interpretation, review and coding of multiple worksite data describing the labor market activities in Illinois, acts as contact person when required. Determines accuracy and validity of industry, area and auxiliary status codes through telephone follow up and verification with primary source documents; fulfills data inquiries and maintains agency historical administrative data files; reviews and analyzes multiple worksite employment and wage data.
Job Responsibilities
- Reviews and analyzes inconsistent or inaccurate codes assigned to employer worksite
- Assists professional staff in determining the accuracy of reported employment and wage information of the multiple worksite report
- Analyzes and interprets private and government employer information, classifying information by geographic area and type of business activity
- Confers with supervisor each day to determine the assignment of the coding and data input duties with the unit. Monitors the daily workflow
- Reviews and interprets private and government employer information pertaining to actual physical location addresses and other data items relevant to the Business Establishment Listing
- Establishes and maintains administrative files on multiple worksite employers, including employment and wages, area and industry codes for each worksite
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years college with courses in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics and related fields
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires working knowledge of data collection procedures.
- Requires working knowledge of simple logs and inventory documents.
- Requires elementary knowledge of the development and application of research design techniques and their application to social and economic data.
- Requires elementary knowledge of the interpretation of results of statistical applications.
- Requires elementary knowledge of the uses of data processing equipment for statistical analysis and report generation.
- Requires ability to apply research design techniques.
- Requires ability to apply standard statistical techniques to social and economic data.
- Requires ability to interpret the results of statistical analysis.
- Requires ability to perform data collection duties.
- Requires ability to develop and maintain simple logs and inventory documents.
- Requires ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and communication skills with agency personnel.
- Requires ability to use a PC and related software programs ,such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
