Agency Marketing Statement

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is tasked with the oversight of communities within Illinois to achieve and maintain optimal health and safety.  With an annual budget of over $600 million in state and federal funds, 7 regional offices, 3 laboratories and over 1,100 employees, IDPH is equipped to fulfill its mission of protecting the health and wellness of the people of Illinois through the prevention, health promotion, regulation and control of disease and injury.

Position Overview

Under general supervision, operates the central laboratory storeroom of the Chicago laboratory; receives, stores and distributes laboratory and office supplies; transports mail from post office; performs routine clerical record keeping duties.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Maintains stores inventory, receives, records and prepares orders for replacement of stock when authorized. 
  2. Receives, unpacks and checks all incoming supplies for prescribed specification and damages and stores such in properly designated area.
  3. Issues supplies from stockroom upon written or oral requests.
  4. Prepares and ships laboratory supplies to other regional laboratories via United Parcel Service and Parcel Post as required.
  5. Operates materials handling equipment activities.
  6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school.
  • Requires one year experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.
  • Requires knowledge of store keeping and warehousing methods and procedures in the receipt, storage and shipment of a variety of goods.
  • Prefers requires experience and knowledge of computerized database used for keeping of stores inventory records for goods and services.
  • Requires ability to utilize various PC applications to access, enter data, analyze and procedure reports.

 

Work Hours:  Monday - Friday 8:00AM- 4:30PM
