The Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the Department of Healthcare and Family Services is seeking an energetic manager to join our investigative staff to provide supervisory and technical support to a regional, investigative team in the OIG's Bureau of Investigations. The ideal candidate will have investigative acumen, strong people and task management skills, and good judgment. The incumbent will drive ongoing process improvement, demonstrate independent initiative, communicate clearly, and exhibit strong leadership skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as supervisor of a team of investigators for the Bureau of Investigations (BOI) in the Chicago Metropolitan Area
  • Serves as a full-line supervisor
  • Serves as coordinator for various management reports utilizing applications such as Excel, Access, Word, etc. 
  • Serves as a liaison for the Office of Inspector General
  • Attends conferences and meetings to plan, develop, and implement new or revised program procedures, policies, legislation, or programs affecting the Bureau

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with course work or public administration
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of professional experience in investigations, preferably including investigations involving healthcare, insurance, or government programs
  • Two (2) year of professional experience supervising staff, preferably managing an investigative, compliance, or oversight team
  • Two (2) years of professional experience reviewing investigative reports and work product
  • Two (2) years professional experience interpreting and implementing policies, procedures, and goals of investigations, preferably including covert investigations
  • Two (2) years of experience working with Microsoft Office applications such as: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Six (6) months professional experience in the use of communication applications such as: Web Ex, or MS Teams

  • Requires the ability to work pass normal business hours
  • Requires the ability to utilize state issues equipment such as a laptop
