Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Support Service Worker for the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center located in Chicago, Illinois to perform housekeeping duties in various areas, including but not limited to, living rooms, patient rooms, offices, general reception areas, hallways, cafeteria, closets and bathrooms on an assigned shift. Operates a variety of cleaning machines and equipment; mops, sweeps, dusts, scrubs, etc. in assigned areas to ensure cleanliness and a safe, clean and sanitary environment for patients and staff.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs housekeeping duties in various areas, including but not limited to, living rooms, patient rooms, offices, general reception areas, hallways, cafeteria, closets and bathrooms on an assigned shift.
- Lifts up all trash for assigned areas and disposes in trash bins for pick-up.
- Checks equipment and reports safety hazards or repairs.
- Operates a variety of cleaning machines and equipment, such as vacuums, scrubbers, buffers, etc.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six months experience in the housekeeping area.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires skill in the basic operation of machinery and equipment found in the assigned areas, such as vacuums, scrubbers, buffers, etc.
- Requires ability to instruct others in simple methods and procedures common to work area.
- Requires ability to work with fellow employees.
- Requires ability to follow verbal instructions.
- Requires the ability to perform heavy physical work such as emptying trash cans into dumpsters, etc.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
- Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
Work Hours: Various Shifts, See below:
(1) 2:00pm-10:00pm Various days off which includes every other weekend off. Repeats every 14 days.
(1) 7:00am-3:00pm Various days off which inculdes every other weekend off. Repeats every 14 days.
