Position Overview:
This position develops, implements and administers the statewide policies and procedures for the Nursing Center program. Travels and serves as the Illinois Nursing Workforce Center liaison to licensed nurses, current nursing students and potential nursing students by guiding them through key transition points of the nursing pipeline. Travels and serves as a spokesperson for the Department on matters involving the programs of the Nursing Center by interpreting the Illinois Nurse Practice Act administrative rules policies and procedures. Travels and serves as the Strategic Planning Coordinator for nursing manpower in Illinois. Serves as working supervisor: Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Essential Functions:
- Develops, implements and administers the statewide policies and procedures for the Nursing Center program.
- Travels and serves as the Illinois Nursing Workforce Center liaison to licensed nurses, current nursing students and potential nursing students by guiding them through key transition points of the nursing pipeline.
- Travels and serves as a spokesperson for the Department on matters involving the programs of the Nursing Center by interpreting the Illinois Nurse Practice Act administrative rules policies and procedures.
- Travels and serves as the Strategic Planning Coordinator for nursing manpower in Illinois.
- Directs and administers the research related to program capacity and barriers to program completion through the Illinois Nursing Workforce Center website with the current Illinois Approved Education Program list scholarship grant and fellowship information current state licensure requirements current nursing initiatives news and data.
- Serves as working supervisor: Assigns and reviews work. Provides guidance and training to assigned staff. Counsels staff regarding work performance. Reassigns staff to meet day-to-day operating needs. Establishes annual goals and objectives. Approves time off. Prepares and signs performance evaluations.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with graduate level
preparation in Nursing. - Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
- Requires licensure as a registered nurse in Illinois.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefers three years' experience working as a nurse or in a nursing environment.
- Prefers at least two years of experience with computer programs involving data collection or working within a web-based environment.
- Prefers two years’ experience with nursing principles and practices.
- Prefers at least two years' experience with nursing regulations and licenses.
- Prefers two years experience working with medical review boards.
- Prefers one year experience developing and evaluating new and revised methods, procedures and performance standards.
Conditions of Employment:
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
- Requires maintaining licensure as a registered nurse in Illinois.
