Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Revenue Document Specialist. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing employer UI account information, providing requested account information, and controlling the receipt of employer UI documents. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who has basic knowledge of employer unemployment insurance requirements and is dedicated to ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience using systems and/or software to research financial records and working in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines. Essential Functions
- Under direct supervision, serves as an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Revenue Document Specialist for the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES)
- Controls the receipt of unemployment insurance (UI) documents and reports from employers in accordance with agency timeliness and quality guidelines
- Initiates corrections for wage data and other employer account information, including but not limited to errors in Federal Employer Identification Numbers (FEINs), Social Security numbers and names of employees
- Assists relevant Revenue staff, other agency staff and/or Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) staff in identifying and resolving problems related to Revenue systems, including but not limited to GenTax, and implementing system changes
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skills and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with major coursework in accounting, business mathematics or related field
Qualifying state employees, in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this class.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires an Illinois State Police background check and self-disclosure of any criminal history
- Requires ability to successfully complete a fingerprint-based background check
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
- This position is considered sedentary work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(a)). Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and requires occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing
- Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties
