POSITION SUMMARY

The Illinois Department of Central Management Services is looking for an organized and detailed oriented candidate to serve as a Janitor for the Collinsville Regional Office Building. Working within a group of other Janitors, the ideal candidate will perform a variety of manual tasks in the care, sanitation and maintenance of the Collinsville IDOT District 8 State Regional Head Quarters and other CMS operated facilities within the Central & Southern Region, including maintaining interior cleanliness of facilities, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, striping, waxing, polishing floors, shampooing, and vacuuming carpeted ideas among other related duties. POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Under immediate supervision of the Southwest Facilities Manager and with day-to-day guidance from the Assistant Chief Stationary Engineer, performs a variety of manual tasks in the care, sanitation and maintenance of the Collinsville IDOT District 8 State Regional Head Quarters and other CMS operated facilities within the Central & Southern Region.
  • Maintains restrooms, including cleaning and sanitizing urinals, stools, floors, and partitions.

  • Sweeps, shovels, and cleans walkways to keep free of debris and snow.

  • Responds to work order requests for immediate janitorial services.

  • Maintains and makes minor repairs and adjustments to cleaning equipment including cleaning, lubricating parts, and performing preventative maintenance.

  • Makes minor repairs and adjustments while cleaning to doors, floor tiles, windows, and light fixtures.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICTIONS

 

  • Requires no formal education.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefers professional experience gaining knowledge of general janitorial work.
  • Prefers professional experience gaining knowledge of the materials, equipment, and methods commonly employed in office cleaning operations.
  • Prefers professional experience following oral and written instructions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This position requires the applicant to pass a background check.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.
  • Requires ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. and assists with materials weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to utilize agency supplied material/equipment (i.e., pager, cell phone, etc.).
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel.

Work Hours:  9:00am - 5:30pm Monday - Friday
