Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated individual to serve on the Decatur Correctional Center’s Administrative Team. The ideal candidate will help to provide the Center with qualified employees (our most valued asset) and to serve the employees needs. We encourage all to apply.
Essential Functions
- Serves as the unitary human resources generalist.
- Receives and responds to mail.
- Maintains personnel files and confidential files for Decatur Correctional Center employees.
- Maintains and checks for accuracy and completeness and tracks performance evaluations (CMS 201’s) for all staff at Decatur Correctional Center.
- Prepares and submits monthly reports to Warden's Office Affirmative Action Business Administrator and Springfield administration i.e. personnel transaction report and employee listing.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college AND one (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources, OR satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working with Illinois State Government Personnel Code and Rules, Positions Classification Plan, Pay Plan, Collective Bargaining Contracts, departmental policies, and/or procedures.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience in a human resources position.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience articulating information in descriptive terms to others not versed in the personnel system.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience gathering information and compiling data into reports.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience handling confidential information.
- Prefers at least four (4) years of work experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite or similar computer software.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
