Position Overview

The Women and Family Services Coordinator is responsible for developing statewide policies for several correctional facilities focused on female individuals in custody. Key responsibilities include providing administrative oversight for programs, visiting institutions to ensure program fidelity, reviewing policies, and making recommendations for improvements. The coordinator also collaborates with facility leadership to integrate and implement programs, conducts annual reviews of administrative directives, participates in planning, and addresses challenges faced by female inmates. Essential Functions

  • As Women and Family Services Coordinator, formulates statewide policy for the Decatur Correctional Center, Logan Correctional Center, and Fox Valley Adult Transitional Center.
  • Directs the overall planning, development, and organization of Women and Family Services programs through Wardens and Center Supervisors.
  • Conducts annual review of pertinent Administrative Directives (A.D.) and assists with recommended policy changes within the Women’s Division.
  • Continually reviews and analyzes population management strategies within the Women’s Division.
  • Serves on various committees as appointed by the Chief of the Women’s Division and attends applicable meetings related to programs focusing on the female individual in custody population.
  • Assists the Chief of the Women’s Division in the development and establishment of new and converted prisons.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with course work in law enforcement, corrections, or a related field.
  • Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working within a program setting with an emphasis on women and family dynamics.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of work experience developing and updating curriculum in a program area.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working in case management.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of work experience analyzing administrative programs and adopting an effective course of action.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience maintaining a Continuous Quality improvement (CQI) program along with recommending and implementing improvements.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of work experience in organizational management.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of work experience implementing program policies and procedures.
  • Prefers at least four years (4) of experience working within a correctional setting.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience working with a program budget.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience evaluating evidence-based programming.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
  • Requires use of agency-supplied equipment (i.e., mobile phone, laptop, etc.).
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
