Position Overview
Dixon Correctional Center is seeking a clerical professional to assist in the day-to day operations of the facility Records Office while following established statutes and policies. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and will be able to work in fast-paced office setting shared with other departmental staff. Dixon Correctional Center is distinct in its size as IDOC’s largest medium security facility and is unique in its diversity. The administration of the facility is divided into specialized areas that include units housing general population individuals in custody, older individuals with special needs, individuals with disabilities, as well as an Infirmary. The Special Treatment Center (STC) is a medium security center that houses both mentally ill and intellectually disabled individuals. The Dixon Psychiatric Unit (DPU) is a multi-security unit which serves as IDOC’s primary psychiatric correctional facility. Both the Special Treatment Center and Dixon Psychiatric Unit serve the needs of individuals who have mental health and intellectual disabilities, by providing programs geared specifically toward a “special needs” population as well as a therapeutic environment. Job Responsibilities
- Performs individual in custody master file review for accuracy and completeness of sentencing information.
- Coordinates individual in custody transfers to and from the facility in accordance with established guidelines to including determination of available bed space for individuals in custody in the general population and Special Treatment Center and Dixon Psychiatric Unit.
- Maintains all records relative individuals in custody court writs and medical furloughs.
- Keyboards and processes Record Office correspondence including memos and other correspondence.
- Processes requests for records.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.
- Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 45 words per minute.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois.
