Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an Illinois licensed Internal Medicine medical professional to provide medical leadership and oversight of the medical services provided at the Fox Developmental Center in Dwight. The Fox Developmental Center provides residential services and supports for people who are medically fragile and have intellectual and developmental disabilities at the intermediate care facility (ICF).

Job Responsibilities

1.  Serves as the Medical Director for the Fox Developmental Center.

 

2.  Serves as full line supervisor.

 

3.  Plans and coordinates the activities of a team of physicians and health care providers.

 

4.  Establishes and monitors progress in meeting medical/clinical goals and objectives.

 

5.  Conducts rounds and provides consultation regarding high risk individuals.

 

6.  Recruits and selects qualified physicians and health care providers and oversees medical/clinical techniques and services to verify adequate treatment is being provided.

 

7.  Provides the Business Office the requirements for medical contracts.

 

8.  Serves as Administrator on Duty (AOD) and on a rotating schedule exercising full authority after business hours and weekends, authorizing consent for medical treatment, restraints, etc.

 

9.  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires an Illinois license to practice medicine and an American Board of Medical Specialties certification in Internal Medicine.
  2. Requires three (3) years of substantive medical administrative experience in the directing, planning and evaluating a medical/clinical program.

Preferred Qualifications (in priority order)

  1. Three (3) years of professional experience as a physician working with concepts and practices in internal medicine.
  2. Three (3) years of professional experience managing and evaluating the delivery of medical care, treatment and services.
  3. At least three (3) years, preferably five (5) years, of professional experience recommending changes to medical service programs.
  4. Three (3) years of professional experience working with professional health services, disciplines and program support functions within a comprehensive medical health program.
  5. Three (3) years of professional experience communicating with both internal and/or external stakeholders daily on medical services.
  6. One (1) year of professional experience supervising staff in the medical field.
  7. One (1) year of professional experience performing quality assurance assessments on medical services and treatments provided to patients and/or individuals.
  8. One (1) year of professional experience providing technical medical training and/or assistance to internal and/or external stakeholders.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays on a rotation basis.
  2. Requires the ability to travel.
  3. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
