Mental Health Administrator I - Position Overview

Under general direction of the Assistant Facility Director, supervises, directs and guides the activities and services of direct care and ancillary program staff in the implementation of care and treatment programs for intellectually disabled individuals served by Fox Developmental Center.  Assign, directs, supervises staff in the implementation of treatment and habilitation plans including completion of assigned tasks such as quality assurance checks, data collection, analysis, implementation of department of public health regulations and all other applicable rules and regulations; provides direction and guidance with regards to behavioral problems.  Implements, directs, supervises and monitors disciplinary action for the residential department.  Directs and supervises Residential Services supervisory staff at the center. Develops and implements policy that impacts services at Fox Center. Verifies compliance with all applicable Public Health and other regulatory agency policies, standards and regulations.

Mental Health Administrator I - Job Responsibilities

1. Serves as working supervisor.

 

2. Plans, directs and evaluates subordinate staff in the provision of training, care and treatment services.

 

3. Monitors implementation of Programming, evaluating each plan’s effectiveness.

 

4. Develops and implements quality assurance reviews associated with those processes and forms related to the provision of services to residents, conferring with supervisors and professional staff concerning recommended changes/revisions.

 

5. Plans, develops and implements in service training programs, confirming documentation is completed and forwarded to staff development for the record.

 

6. Verifies all physical plan, safety/sanitation problems/issues are addressed, taking correctable action and/or submitting requests or documentation for correction.

 

7. Performs other duties required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Mental Health Administrator I - Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to (1) a master’s degree in administration, education or the behavioral sciences and successful completion of a comprehensive training program at the Mental Health Administrator Trainee level,

OR (2) three years of progressively responsible professional experience in or applicable to the provision of therapeutic patient services for persons with mental illness or intellectual disabilities,

OR (3) three years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in, or applicable to the care, treatment and development of persons with mental illness or intellectual disabilities. 

Mental Health Administrator I - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires ability to communicate oral and written instructions to subordinate staff. 
  • Requires the ability to participate in application of restraint procedures and must be able to make rounds, attend off site training and meetings.

Mental Health Administrator I - Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
  2. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  3. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois. Mental Health Administrator Trainee - Position Overview

Under direction, for a period of four but not to exceed nine months, receives training in the proper methods used in supervising a multidisciplinary team engaged in observation, treatment, development and the rehabilitation of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.  Receives training in the modern techniques used in formulating and implementing treatment and development plans.

Mental Health Administrator Trainee - Job Responsibilities

1. Receives training in proper methods used in planning, directing and evaluating activities of a multidisciplinary treatment team engaged in the observation, treatment, development and rehabilitation of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

 

2. Receives a minimum of 120 hours of formal classroom training and a minimum of 400 hours of on-the-job training in techniques used in formulating and implementing therapeutic treatment and developmental plans to meet individual needs.

 

3. Participates in individual treatment programs as an observer and conductor of individual evaluation and therapy sessions.

 

4. Participates in annual and interim multi-disciplinary team planning meetings, for the individuals living at Fox Center, to discuss team related problems and activities.

 

5. Observes and participates in meetings with community groups to encourage and facilitate the development of preventative, control and after care programs.

 

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Mental Health Administrator Trainee - Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of a master's degree in administration, education or the behavioral sciences.

Mental Health Administrator Trainee - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires ability to participate in and successfully complete a comprehensive training program.
  • Requires elementary knowledge of the causes, nature and treatment of mental illness and intellectual disabilities, therapeutic techniques, conceptual framework and techniques and the concepts and principles of behavioral sciences employed in the provisions of therapeutic individual services.
  • Requires elementary knowledge of the administrative and supervisory principles and practices.
  • Requires elementary knowledge of the methods, principles and practices of other professional disciplines.
  • Requires ability to develop skills necessary to plan, supervise or participate in the activities of a multidisciplinary team engaged in the planning, formulation and implementation of therapeutic and rehabilitative individual treatment programs.
