Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Mental Health Technician III for the Fox Developmental Center located in Dwight, Illinois to provide physical support with personal care services to individuals on an assigned unit on an assigned shift. Conducts individual and group programs. Verifies individual safety and protection through monitoring and supervision. Teaches and directs individuals in the maintenance of a clean, safe and secure environment.  Serves as a lead worker to lower level staff.

Essential Functions

  • Provides physical support with personal care services to individuals on an assigned unit on an assigned shift.

  • Conducts individual and group programs.

  • Serves as designated lead worker to lower-level staff.

  • Verifies individual safety and protection through monitoring and supervision.

  • Teaches and directs individuals in the maintenance of a clean, safe and secure environment.

  • Attends and completes scheduled training by Department of Human Services (DHS), the center and the programmatic unit.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.

  • Requires successful completion of an approved training program and one (1) year experience in, or applicable to the care, treatment, and development of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
