Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Physician for the Fox Developmental Center located in Dwight, Illinois to serve as an Illinois Licensed Physician. Provides medical and health care to individuals who reside at the Fox Developmental Center.  Provides medical examinations, diagnostic and treatment habilitation services.  Provides physician services in accordance with Department of Human Services (DHS) and Fox Center Policy, Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), Public Health and other applicable laws and regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  1. As an Illinois Licensed Physician, provides medical and health care to individuals who reside at the Fox Developmental Center.
  2. Serves as physician on call.
  3. Coordinates medical reviews and evaluations and participates as a member of Habilitation Treatment teams and as a member of facility standing and ad hoc committees.
  4. Performs annual physicals for individuals and new admission physicals.
  5. Serves as an active member on committees.
  6. Attends Medical Staff and Facility meetings.
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires an Illinois license to practice medicine.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. One (1) year of professional experience evaluating and providing quality medical care to adult individuals.
  2. One (1) year of professional experience coordinating medical services with other professional disciplines and supportive personnel.
  3. One (1) year of professional experience evaluating, diagnosing and treating adult individuals in accordance with best practices.
  4. One (1) year of professional experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
  5. One (1) year of professional experience preparing comprehensive and specialized medical records and reports.
  6. One (1) year of professional experience treating adults with intellectual and developmentally disabled individuals.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to obtain/maintain an Unrestricted Illinois State Medical license to practice Medicine and be able to prescribe medications including Controlled Substances.
  2. Requires a valid DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) license in the State of Illinois to be able to provide care to individuals at the Fox Developmental Center.
  3. Requires the ability to get credentialed at private payors, as well as Illinois Medicaid and Medicare.
  4. Requires the ability to serve as Physician on call.
  5. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
  6. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  7. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  8. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  9. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
