Psychologist I - Position Overview

Under direct supervision of the Assistant Facility Director, performs professional psychologist duties to residents living at the Fox Center, including assessment program planning, instructing staff on implementation of programs and data collection and interpretation of resident progress; serves as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team.  Implements behavior programming with residents. Completes comprehensive summaries of counseling sessions.

Psychologist I - Job Responsibilities

1. Performs professional psychologist duties to residents living at the Fox Center, including assessment program planning, instructing staff on implementation of programs and data collection and interpretation of resident progress.  Conducts and interprets psychological testing and assessments, submits test / assessment documents and progress notes to Lead Psychologist for review and consultation.

 

2. Serves as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team by conveying resident progress information to the Team for assigned residents.

 

3. Implements behavior programming with residents, provides counseling, trains direct care staff in the provision of behavior programs.

 

4. Completes comprehensive summaries of counseling sessions.

 

5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Psychologist I - Minimum Qualifications

1.     Requires a master’s degree in psychology from a recognized college or university supplemented by two years professional experience in psychology or satisfactory completion of the psychologist associate program.

 

This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.

Psychologist I - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires extensive knowledge of the theories and assumptions underlying the field of psychology.
  • Requires visual acuity and hearing levels to conduct counseling sessions and evaluations.
  • Requires ability to write clear and cohesive summaries of counseling sessions.
  • Requires physical ability to access various work sites throughout the center to attend meetings and confer with individuals and other professional staff.

Psychologist I - Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related Policies and guidance.
  2. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  3. Requires ability to pass a drug screen.  *On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois.  Please note that although the law has changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department’s zero tolerance Drug Testing policy. The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.

Psychologist Associate - Position Overview

Under direct supervision of a registered Psychologist, for a period not to exceed twelve months, actively participates in in-service and on-the-job training on the Units to develop further expertise in the field of clinical psychology; is assigned controlled work assignments of increasing difficulty, complexity, and responsibility; conducts psychological interviews, conducts, scores and interprets psychological tests; participates in psychological treatment procedures.

Psychologist Associate - Job Responsibilities

1.  For a period not excess twelve months, actively participates in in-service and on-the-job training on the Units to develop further expertise in the field of clinical psychology. Is assigned controlled work assignments of increasing difficulty, complexity and responsibility.

 

2.  Serves as a member of the Treatment Team to discuss treatment plans and progress.

 

3.  Receives training in how to administer, score and interpret psychological screening tests and other evaluation instruments.

 

4.  Attends assigned committee meetings and provides input into meeting goals of committee.

 

5.  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

 

Psychologist Associate - Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires possession of a master's degree in Psychology from a recognized college or university.

  • Requires working knowledge of testing procedures and standard test forms and devices used in ascertaining intelligence aptitude, personality, and other related physical and mental traits.
  • Requires working knowledge of the application of psychology to social and education deviation, mental disease, and rehabilitation.
  • Requires visual acuity and hearing levels to conduct counseling sessions and evaluations.
  • Requires ability to write clear and cohesive summaries of counseling sessions.
  • Requires physical ability to access various work sites throughout the hospital to attend meetings and confer with patients and other professional staff.

Psychologist Associate - Conditions of Employment
