Position Overview
Under general supervision of the Business Manager, performs a variety of complex technical accounting work including the posting of financial documents and accounting information to financial books of entry and general ledgers in the accounting systems; audits financial documents and reports financial reconciliations. Calculates and maintains the center's employee time, benefit, and attendance records on individual records utilizing financial spreadsheet software; reconciles source documents to the time sheets and computes balance carry overs and lump sums for retirement.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintains center's employee time and attendance records.
- Prepares and audits complex financial documents, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Comptroller's Statewide Accounting Management System, including Comptroller's Compensated Absences Form (SCO-580) tracking and reporting of vacation and other leave and sick leave earned by employees, but not taken and the liability for compensated absences for vacation and other leave and sick leave for salary related payments directly and incrementally associated with the payment of compensated absences.
- Prepares Payroll Time Report and manually calculates and checks each employees bi-monthly attendance, roll call, shift differential, overtime, temporary assignment, paid lunches, holidays and any other information affecting the employee's pay and submits to payroll semi-monthly.
- Maintains complete and accurate filing system and records personnel shift changes, day-off changes and timekeeping code changes regarding promotions.
- Performs duties as back-up Property Control Officer in his/her absence.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course or three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires working knowledge of accounting techniques.
- Requires working knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures.
- Requires working knowledge of office methods and procedures.
- Requires working knowledge of principles and functions of standard office accounting machines and equipment.
